Sankofa Digital Heritage Library ("Sankofa," "the Platform," "we," "us") is a free digital library preserving and sharing Ghana's cultural heritage. By accessing or using sankofalibrary.com, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms").

Sankofa is operated by SmartQix LLC, registered in Ohio, United States.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

Sankofa is free to use. You can browse, read, and explore our collection without creating an account. Some features (like saving reading progress across devices) require signing in with a Google account.

When using Sankofa, you agree to:

• Use the Platform for personal, educational, or research purposes
• Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Platform's operation
• Not use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content without permission
• Not misrepresent your identity or impersonate others
• Respect the cultural significance of the content presented

Sankofa's library contains a mix of content with different rights:

If you believe any content on Sankofa infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at info@sankofalibrary.com with details, and we will address it promptly.

If you sign in with Google, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We store minimal information (name, email, profile picture) to provide personalized features like reading history.

You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us. When your account is deleted, we remove your personal data and reading history from our servers.

Sankofa includes an AI-powered librarian chat. When using this feature:

• The AI provides information based on our library content. It may not always be accurate.
• Do not share sensitive personal information (passwords, financial details) in chat.
• Chat conversations may be logged to improve the quality of the AI responses.
• The AI is not a substitute for professional historical or academic research.

Sankofa may display advertisements through Google AdSense or similar services to support the Platform's operation. Advertisements are served by third parties and are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

We try to keep ads non-intrusive and relevant. Ad content does not reflect the views or endorsement of Sankofa or SmartQix LLC.

Sankofa is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do our best to keep the Platform running smoothly and the content accurate, but we cannot guarantee:

• That the Platform will be available at all times without interruption
• That all historical content is complete or free of errors
• That AI-generated content is fully accurate
• That the Platform is free of bugs or security vulnerabilities

Use Sankofa's content as a starting point for learning. For academic or professional purposes, verify information through additional sources.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SmartQix LLC and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of profits, or damages from reliance on content presented on Sankofa.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (such as a banner on the site).

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
